MY FIRST BOOK · PHOTOGRAPHS FROM 2011

A {Phool}
in Nepal

Three months.
The beginning of a much longer story.

In 2011, I went to Nepal for three months. I ended up staying for ten years. This book brings together photographs from that first visit: an introduction to a country I was only beginning to know.

Mountains and temples sit alongside quieter scenes of everyday life. Together, they form a photographic record of those first encounters, and the starting point of my journey into making books.

WHERE THE BOOKS BEGAN

A first visit.
A first book.

Before the illustrated stories and the pen-and-ink drawings, there were photographs. A {Phool} in Nepal was my first published book, a way of bringing those images together and sharing something of the places and people I had encountered.

Published in 2012, it belongs to the beginning of that story. The printed copies have now sold out, but these photographs and sample pages offer a glimpse inside.
